Nasal Tip Plasty in Los Angeles
If the appearance of the nasal tip is your only concern, double board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Arman Vartany will perform nasal tip plasty at his Burbank, California, surgical center to reshape and refine it to improve facial harmony. Unlike full rhinoplasty, which addresses the entire nose, this minimally invasive surgery targets specific concerns like a bulbous nose, asymmetry, or a drooping nasal tip.
What Is Nasal Tip Plasty?
Tip rhinoplasty, or tip plasty, focuses on modifying the cartilage and soft tissue of the nasal tip without altering the other structures of the nose. This approach allows precise adjustments to the tip’s size, shape, and projection. Dr. Vartany can increase or decrease the tip’s projection, rotate or de-rotate the tip, or improve its shape. Dr. Vartany commonly uses septal cartilage during the procedure. He often combines tip plasty with a full rhinoplasty.
The procedure may involve:
- Cartilage Reshaping: The cartilage in the nasal tip can be sculpted to reduce its width and create a more defined shape.
- Tip Projection Adjustment: Adjusting the tip’s projection can enhance the nose’s overall balance with other facial features.
- Alar Base Reduction: In some cases, reducing the width of the nostrils further refines the nasal tip’s appearance.

Are You a Good Candidate for Tip Plasty?
Tip plasty is primarily a cosmetic procedure aimed at altering the nasal tip’s shape, size, or projection. It doesn’t typically involve the internal structures responsible for airflow, making it unsuitable for functional enhancements.
Ideal candidates for this procedure are looking to achieve:
- A more defined tip
- A more balanced or symmetrical tip
- Minor cosmetic corrections
Candidates should also understand both the potential and limitations of tip rhinoplasty. Dr. Vartany will work closely with you to ensure your goals align with achievable outcomes.
The goal of any rhinoplasty procedure is to create facial harmony. If your nasal tip is enlarged, rounded, or droopy, it can affect the overall balance of your facial features. Tip plasty can restore a more harmonious appearance.

How Much Does Nasal Tip Plasty Cost?
The cost of a tip plasty, like a full rhinoplasty, depends on the specific nature of the procedure. Cosmetic nose surgery is probably the most complicated plastic surgery procedure and it’s important to choose a surgeon with the expertise and experience to get the desired results. Dr. Vartany often performs revision rhinoplasty for patients who selected another surgeon for their initial tip plasty procedure.

Recovery After Nasal Tip Plasty
Tip plasty surgery requires minor suturing and bandages, so patients may return to work within 1 to 2 days if they want to. Sutures are usually self-dissolving, and bandages may be applied for 3 to 5 days. In some cases, silicone splints can be used to support the tip and sutures, and they will be removed in 3 to 5 days.
